There are those times in life when it’s quite desirable to blend the new with the old. Well, that’s exactly what Tocadisco has done. By merging the new sounds of electro club with the old sounds of bell bottoms, this Superstar Recording artist has produced another gem in the Disco House music scene.

What do the Ramones, Blondie, and The Talking Heads all have in common?
Ok, yes, they do have bad hair-do’s…but that’s not quite what we were thinking. Actually, they all jump started their punk fame by rocking wall-to-wall crowds within the bowels of the New York City club, CBGB’s.

CBGB’s (standing for “country, blue grass, and blues”) was founded early 1973, and is widely known for being one of the noisiest, yet fun, music establishments the good ole’ U. S. of A. has ever seen.
Unfortunately, as typically plagues nightclubs, a dispute between the owners and landlords shut the place down after 33 years of open doors in October of last year.
Well, even us dance music heads and bar gurus everywhere think that this is an absolute travesty! So, to give some props to the folks that allowed studded jewelry and colored hair to be en vogue Rush Lounge is sponsoring a one-night special tribute to CBGB’s by blasting over 100 of the most popular Punk Rock songs of all times.

So go ahead and take a minute to search through your closet or basement to find all of those clothes you were wearing in your “rebellious” days, or, you can just take some clothes from Ashlee Simpson. Either way, we want to pay our deep respects to one of the longest running clubs on the entire planet.

If you are familiar with the Raleigh nightlife scene, you’re familiar with Glenwood South’s mainstay Hip-Hop club, Aura. There has been a laundry list of DJ’s to drop records in the booth at Aura, but as of late the management has been looking to create a fresh new vibe that will set the club apart. D-Cutta is definitely that DJ.
Now, don’t get us wrong…our man “D” is no stranger to the North Carolina music scene. He has been blowing up dorm rooms and car kickers for the past few years as one of the resident DJ’s for NCSU’s WKNC radio. Keeping a full schedule on campus, as well as creating bass thumpin’ beats, has kept D-Cutta busy, but he welcomes the opportunity to bring Aura back to the forefront.
“Aura is one of [Raleigh’s] best nightclubs. It’s an honor to continue building a club night that people enjoy.” says, D as he kicks back with his trademark baseball cap tilted off-center.
Mike Lombardo, co-owner of Aura Nightclub, couldn’t agree more. “Since his first night playing, people have enjoyed what he’s doing. I’m glad he’s bringing his open style of energy and fun to the dance floor.”
D’s mellow style of blending booty-shaking rap sounds with hip-swiveling house is uncanny. Always eager to remind people in the crowd that a party is going on, Cutta will have you throwin’ your hands up in the air….
If you haven’t had a chance to hear D-Cutta rip up the latest in room rattling Hip-Hop and House, check the HiJinx Records calendar so you can see when he’s playing next. “D” will for sure have you bumpin’ all night long.
